Late Wednesday night, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed the 2023-24 state budget by a 117-86 vote, much to the chagrin of the state Senate GOP leadership.

Here are some of the reactions to the passing of the bill.

Pennsylvania is the only state with a full-time, divided legislature. Nothing gets done unless both sides agree.

The budget that passed the Senate and House makes historic investments in public education, safety, and economic development, and keeps us in good fiscal standing.

I miss Gov. @TomWolfPA because as much as we disagreed on the issues, his word actually meant something. pic.twitter.com/mplmhCwK2j

“The reality is we do not have a state budget & we will not until the Senate acts on many other pieces that are necessary to fully make a state budget in effect. That has yet to happen & I don’t see that happening in the immediate future.”

Tom Wolf and I certainly disagreed on lots of things but…
one of the most valuable things in this world is the strength of our word. We have now learned that Josh Shapiro is willing to sacrifice that integrity for a “win”. Sad to see what people value. pic.twitter.com/des7CfgJPl

Pa Budget Impasse is still in effect.

Not Signed Into Law:

❌General Appropriations
❌Fiscal Code
❌School Code
❌Administrative Code
❌Human Services Code
❌House Keeping Bills
❌Non-Preferreds

This is now Gov. Shapiro’s impasse because of the Great Betrayal.

I voted yes on HB 611, the bipartisan #budget for 2023-24. It’s not perfect, but my colleagues & I have sent a budget to @GovernorShapiro‘s desk that provides historic funding for public K-12 education, workforce development, & community safety – all crucial investments for PA.
