Two Newest Members of PA House Take Oath of Office

There are officially two new members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Andrea Verobish and Catherine Wallen took the oath of office from Speaker of the House Joanna McClinton (D-Delaware/Philadelphia) on Monday to take their seats in the chamber.

Verobish will serve the 79th Legislative District in Blair County, while Wallen will serve the 193rd Legislative District in Adams and Cumberland Counties.

“I’m honored to have the chance to take the solemn oath to defend both the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of our Commonwealth,” Verobish said. “Beyond that, I’m thankful to have the opportunity to serve as the voice of the people of the 79th District in Harrisburg. I look forward to defending faith, family and freedom not just for the people back home, but across Pennsylvania.”

Prior to her election to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Verobish’s public service experience includes working as an income maintenance caseworker with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, serving as a legislative aide to Sen. John H. Eichelberger Jr. in the 30th state Senatorial District, and working as a field representative for Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-15).

“It is a privilege to serve my family, friends and neighbors in the state House of Representatives. Today’s ceremony was a truly humble experience as I pledged my commitment to serve the people of the district in which I grew up,” Wallen said. “I thank the people of the district for putting their faith in me to be their voice in Harrisburg.

“I also recognize the times in which I am coming into office. I believe we are at a crossroads, and we must take the path that leads to prosperity for Pennsylvania and its residents,” Wallen said. “As the newly elected representative of the 193rd Legislative District, I will work my hardest to bring our values of hard work, respect for others and conservatism to Harrisburg.”

Wallen has been assigned to four House committees this session. She will serve on the Children and Youth, Communications and Technology, Intergovernmental Affairs and Operations, and State Government committees.
