Pennsylvania-based Susquehanna Polling and Research released its latest poll on the Keystone State’s Senate race and it shows Democrat John Fetterman with a five-point lead over Republican Mehmet Oz.

Fetterman recorded 49 percent of the responses, while Oz received 44 percent. Five percent of the respondents were not sure, while two percent chose another unnamed candidate.

The poll is the third of the last four to show Fetterman, the lieutenant governor, with a lead ranging between 4-5 points.

The PoliticsPA polling average compilation still shows Fetterman with 9.1 percentage point lead over Oz. The 49 percent that the former mayor of Braddock received in the Susquehanna poll is his highest since two weeks ago when he pulled in 51 percent. Oz equaled his high-water mark with the 44 percent support.

Breaking down the numbers, Fetterman is receiving support from 87 percent of Democrats to just nine percent who are opposed. On the flip side, Oz leads with GOP voters, 78-13, with nine percent of Republicans still unsure. The pollster wrote that “it’s unlikely Oz can win without 9 in 10 Republicans in support.”

The celebrity doctor does hold a 10-point lead with independents (50-40).

In terms of favorability, Oz remains underwater at minus-19 with 32% having a favorable opinion and 51% with an unfavorable opinion. Fetterman is plus-5 with 44-39 numbers.

According to the poll, inflation/economy (57%) and abortion rights (41%) are the two most important issues would most influence the vote of the Commonwealth electorate this cycle. Susquehanna says the inflation/economy voters are breaking toward Oz by 12 points (52-40), while abortion rights voters are casting their support with Fetterman, 71-25.

The poll was conducted August 22-29 with a sample size of 718 likely voters using live telephone agents; the poll’s margin of error is +/-3.7% at the 95% confidence level.
