It’s official. President Donald Trump has endorsed State Treasurer Stacy Garrity for governor of Pennsylvania.

In a social media post on Tuesday night, Trump said that Garrity has his ‘Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Governor of Pennsylvania,” adding in all caps, “SHE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN.”

The 45th and 47th president made some noise during his trip to Mount Pocono in December, when he introduced a number of Pennsylvania Republican figures in the audience, but omitted Garrity. It led some to speculate that Trump may not endorse the Bradford County native for the state’s highest position.

Trump called her “a true America First Patriot, who has been with me from the beginning,” in his post.

Garrity said she was honored to receive the president’s endorsement.

“In 2016, President Trump did what no Republican nominee in 28 years was able to accomplish – win the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” she said in a statement. “And in 2024, he repeated this feat by an even larger margin. Why?  Because President Trump has been a voice for hardworking Americans, who have been too often left behind, by standing up to our international adversaries like China, lowering the tax burden on families and small businesses, and returning pride to our nation.

“Josh Shapiro has done everything he can to stand in President Trump’s way, suing his administration more than two dozen times. Josh Shapiro is President Trump’s number one adversary, and I am looking forward to working with President Trump and his team to defeat Josh Shapiro this November.”

Garrity also said in a fundraising email that the endorsement guarantees “the Left will come after us with everything they have.

“This race is no longer just about our Commonwealth. It is now one of the most important elections in the entire country. If we act decisively right now, we will build a grassroots campaign strong enough to win… and strong enough to withstand what’s coming.

“Together, we will win Pennsylvania. Together, we will deliver for America. Thank you for standing with me. Thank you for standing with President Trump.”

Pennsylvania Democrats were quick to pounce on Trump’s endorsement.

“Stacy Garrity is an extreme, toxic candidate who is running to bring Trump’s dangerous and chaotic Washington agenda here to Pennsylvania – and Donald Trump’s endorsement confirms that,” said PA Dems chair Eugene DePasquale. “She supports cutting health care to pay for tax cuts for billionaires even as tens of thousands lose their coverage, opposed tax cuts for working families here in Pennsylvania, backs restricting abortion access in Pennsylvania, and said it was fun to spread misinformation about the 2020 election.

“Pennsylvanians deserve better than a Governor who is nothing more than a rubber stamp for Trump’s chaos and higher costs, and that’s why she will be soundly rejected this November.”

And a spokesperson for the Democratic Governors Association also chimed in, calling Garrity “a mediocre candidate.”

“Stacy Garrity earned her Trump endorsement by going full MAGA and bear-hugging the accomplishments that have cost Pennsylvanians the most,” said Izzy Levi in a statement. “Garrity has stood 100% behind the Trump administration gutting access to health care and driving up costs, stripping away food assistance, killing energy jobs, and ripping away fundamental freedoms — all while peddling dangerous and debunked lies about the 2020 election having been stolen. To borrow the word Garrity loves to use to describe the Keystone State, she is a mediocre candidate running a mediocre campaign, and no endorsement in the world will change that.”
