Rep. Dan Meuser (R-09) announced Friday that he has joined the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) caucus.
The caucus is designed to be a bicameral and bipartisan initiative aimed at combating waste, fraud, abuse, and inefficiencies in federal government agencies. It will support President-elect Donald Trump’s advisory council – the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) – led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
“This week, I had an opportunity to spend nearly an hour and a half with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to discuss their plans for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE),” said Meuser. “I was able to ask questions and share my recommendations on rooting out waste, fraud, redundancies, and unnecessary bureaucracy in the federal government. DOGE will stop the federal bureaucracy from becoming an unelected fourth branch of government. As a member of the House DOGE Caucus, I look forward to working alongside President Trump’s advisory council, the Department of Government Efficiency, to make much-needed reforms to regain a limited government.”
Republican leadership welcomed the visit by Musk and Ramaswamy, with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) praising them as disruptors who would bring about “a new day in Washington and a new day in America.”
Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) said it was “way too early” to identify key priorities of the caucus and emphasized that it would be an ongoing effort through the four years of Trump’s administration. He did highlight the incoming GOP-led Senate’s intentions to slash Biden administration regulations right at the start of the new Congress.
Meuser met with Musk and Ramaswamy on Capitol Hill on Thursday.
