Mazzocco Wins Special Election To Fill Miller’s Term in HD-42
Educator Jennifer Mazzocco won the special election in the 42nd Legislative District to fill the remaining term of Dan Miller, who resigned to become a judge on the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.
Mazzocco defeated Joseph Leckenby, 81-18, to win the South Hills district seat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and help maintain Democrats’ one-seat majority in the chamber.
The Allerdice High School teacher and President of the Dormont Borough Council carried all 68 precincts in a district comprising Baldwin, Mount Lebanon and Upper St. Clair townships and the boroughs of Castle Shannon and Dormont.
“Tonight’s victories demonstrate that 2025 was just the beginning as Pennsylvania Democrats continue building momentum across the Commonwealth,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Party chair Eugene DePasquale. “This November, we are ready to win up and down the ballot, reelect Governor Shapiro and Lieutenant Governor Davis, flip the Pennsylvania State Senate and four seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
“I extend my congratulations to Representatives-elect Tiburco and Mazzocco, and I thank the House Democratic Campaign Committee, Lehigh County Democratic Committee, and the Allegheny County Democratic Committee for their hard work to ensure we retained control of these crucial seats.
“I know Representatives-elect Tiburco and Mazzocco will bring the same commitment to serving their communities as they take on their new roles in Harrisburg.”
