Pennsylvania native Salena Zito is starting a new show on SiriusXM’s P.O.T.U.S. channel.  The show is called “Main Street Meets the Beltway” and will be airing Tuesdays from 2-3 p.m.

“The show is mainly stories out of main street, and how they affect Washington,” Zito said in an interview with PoliticsPA.  

The first show was broadcast from Washington, but next week, and most weeks, it will be broadcast from Pittsburgh, where Zito calls home.  

Zito hopes the show will help people understand others more and give them a chance to hear stories they might not have the chance to hear.  

“Everyone has a story to tell, and everyone likes a good story,” Zito said.  “Everyone’s story has value.”

Zito was a longtime reporter and columnist for the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, and is currently a contributor for CNN, the New York Post, and the Washington Examiner.  

Zito was the reporter who coined the phrase on President Trump: “The press takes him literally, but not seriously; his supporters take him seriously, but not literally.”

In the 2016 election, Zito was on the ground in the rust belt and across the country, especially western Pennsylvania and Ohio.  Her interviews with and coverage of Trump supporters, and key members of the Trump campaign including Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump, led some commenters to criticize that she was too generous to both groups.  But she has had a sympathetic ear for populism since before Trump became a Republican.

“The show is about people and their stories,” Zito said.
